HighT-Tech, Inc. is a Beltsville, Maryland advanced-materials company that designs and manufactures catalysts, battery materials and membranes using an electrified ultrafast high-temperature sintering (UHS) process. The technique reaches temperatures up to 3000 degrees C in seconds rather than hours, letting the company synthesize and screen non-equilibrium materials roughly a thousand times faster than conventional furnace methods. It spun out of the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University and operates a 10,000 square foot facility in Beltsville. Its materials target decarbonization of the chemical, refining, heavy-industrial and energy-storage markets.
