Daylight Computer Co. is a San Francisco consumer hardware company, incorporated as a public benefit corporation, that designs and manufactures computing devices that emit no blue light and no flicker. Its first product, the DC-1, is a 10.5-inch tablet built around a proprietary "Live Paper" display that combines the paper-like look of e-ink with a 60Hz refresh rate, so scrolling, writing and video stay smooth. The device is readable in direct sunlight and uses a pure amber backlight at night. Founder and CEO Anjan Katta started the company to build devices for deep focus and wellbeing rather than for attention capture.
