ColdSnap makes a countertop appliance that freezes single servings of ice cream, frozen lattes, smoothies, protein shakes and cocktails on demand, in roughly two to three minutes, from shelf-stable pods. Because the pods are stored at ambient temperature, the system removes the frozen supply chain from frozen desserts. The company was founded in Massachusetts in October 2018 by Matthew Fonte and manufactures in a vertically integrated facility in Billerica. Machines are deployed in offices, stadiums and arenas, convention centers, universities, hotels and senior living facilities, alongside a consumer machine sold directly.
